Tell Coke to Listen to the People & Stop Draining Their Water!
“The wars of the 21st century will be fought over water.” —Ismail Serageldin, former vice president of the World Bank
Through water depletion, pollution, misleading marketing of bottled water, and price gouging, Coke's practices threaten water supplies around the world. Coke is dramatically depleting groundwater in India with little regard for the impact on communities. In rural India, when wells dry up or water is diverted from irrigation to a Coke factory, people's lives are put at risk.
Coke must stop draining water from local communities. For starters, the soft drink giant must:
- Never reopen its plant in Plachimada,
- Close its plant in Mehdiganj, and
- Pay back affected communities for the damages it has inflicted.
International solidarity is essential to challenging a corporation with Coke's wealth and power. Stand with communities in India today by sending the following email to Coke CEO Neville Isdell.
