We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit Corporate Accountability International.

The short explanation of this alert was:

This July, thousands of public health and corporate accountability advocates from around the world, including Corporate Accountability International, gathered in Washington, DC for the 13th World Conference on Tobacco or Health.  One of the major topics of discussion is the global tobacco treaty—which has now been ratified by more than 130 countries around the world!

It's a shame that while Washington is hosting this preeminent health conference, the U.S. still has not ratified the global tobacco treaty—the world’s first public health and corporate accountability treaty. The treaty is currently stalled in the State Department, so we are calling on Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, to urge President Bush to submit the treaty for ratification by the U.S. Senate immediately.

Email and call Secretary Rice and urge her to advance U.S. ratification of the global tobacco treaty. You can leave a message for her at 202-647-6197. Tell her that tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death in the world, killing over 5 million people each year. It’s time that the U.S. stands up, joins the rest of the world in saving lives, and ratifies the global tobacco treaty.

To email her the letter below, fill out the form on the right.
